Printing from Applications

Follow the procedure below to print directly from any application software. The procedures are the same whether the client and the RIP server are on the same single computer or on separate computers. Although the printing procedure may change depending on the application software used, the examples here describe the basic procedures to print from Windows (Windows XP or Windows Vista) or Macintosh (Mac OS X).

Check the following before operating the printer:

Windows XP/Vista

  1. Start the application, and then create a new file or open the file to be printed.
  2. Click [File] - [Print].
    The [Print] window appears.
  3. Select [RolandVWD (nickname of the printer you want to use)] as a printer, and then click [Properties].
    The [Print Quality] window appears.
  4. Click [Advanced].
    The [Roland VersaWorks Dual Advanced Options] window appears.
  5. Select the paper size.
  6. If necessary, select how you want to process the jobs that are added in the RIP server in the [Printer Features].
    To configure the job processing method
  7. Click [OK].
  8. In the [Print Quality] window, click [OK].
  9. Click [Print].
    The print data is sent to the RIP server.

Mac OS X

  1. Start the application, and then create a new file or open the file to be printed.
  2. Click [File] - [Page Setup].
    The [Page Setup] window appears.
  3. Select the printer (spooler name specified on the RIP server or [RolandVWD (nickname of the printer you want to use)]) in [Format for], select paper size in [Paper size], and then click [OK].
  4. Click [File] - [Print].
    The [Print] window appears.
  5. Check the printer name shown in [Printer], and then select [Printer Features] from the list box.
  6. If necessary, select how you want to process the jobs that are added in the RIP server.
    To configure the job processing method
  7. Click [Print].
    The print data is sent to the RIP server.

Tip To configure the job processing method
The RIP server creates jobs from the print data sent by clients.
In the [Printer Features] window, you can set how you want to process the jobs that are added in the RIP server.
[InputAction]
Select one of the following processing methods, which is applied to jobs created from received print data.
UseRIPSetting Follows the setting on the RIP server.
DoNothing Neither RIP'ing or printing is performed (the job is just added to the job list).
RIPOnly Performs RIP only.
RIP and Print Performs RIP and printing.
[OutputAction]
Select one of the following processing methods, which is applied to jobs after printing.
UseRIPSetting Follows the setting on the RIP server.
SaveJob Job is kept in the job list after printing.
Clean Deletes RIP and print data only.
DeleteJob Deletes the jobs from the list.
