Rest Machining

You should always perform a rest machining run when a mill change results in a tool with a smaller diameter during machining.

The rest material cycles can identify and machine those areas in which a greater allowance remains from the previous cycle due to the larger tool’s inability to optimally remove the material.

Consistent use of this machining method is absolutely essential for materials that are difficult to cut, both in order to prevent the tool from breaking and to assure precise production.

Care must be taken to assure that the same allowance is entered as for the previous cycle.
